Glen Urquhart High School
is a six-year comprehensive secondary school with a pupil
population of over 200 pupils. The school is situated in the rural
village of Drumnadrochit, Inverness-shire on the banks of Loch
Ness.
Our school serves pupils from a wide catchment
area ranging from Tomich and Cannich in the West to Invermoriston
in the South-West. Increasingly we are welcoming pupils from
out-with our catchment area. In August 2002 the school and
community welcomed the opening of the new Glen Urquhart High
School which also houses the Craigmonie Community Centre,
Glenurquhart Child Care Centre and Community Library. Our pupils
enjoy excellent facilities, a wide range of curricular and
non-curricular experiences and an extensive extra-curricular
programme.
Our values are: Respect Motivated Nurturing
Achieve Relationships and Acceptance. Our ethos
reflects these values. Both staff and pupils build respectful
relationships that builds the motivation to achieve the very best
we can. The school environment is nurturing in that we accept each
other’s differences and work closely together as one community.
Staff take the time to get to know every pupil and set high
expectations which drive attainment and achievement, our students
achieve well above the national average. We do all we can, working
closely with parents and other partners in education, to prepare
our young people for life, learning and work. We hope you explore
and enjoy our school website. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if
you have further questions.
Best wishes,
