Glen Urquhart High School P7 Transition
Days 2019

(Tuesday - Thursday 8.40am - 3.40pm and Friday 8.40am -12.25pm)
P7 Transition Parents’ Evening
Thursday 27th June 2019
7.00pm - 9.00pm
During the month of June we have 3 events planned to help smooth the transition from P7 into S1.
P7 Visit to High School
Tuesday 25th – Friday 28th June (inclusive) 2019
All new S1 pupils will have four school days at Glen Urquhart High School meeting their new classmates and teachers. During this time they will have time in classes and take part in a variety of team building activities to help them settle into school life. All pupils will be expected to wear their normal primary school uniform (no denim allowed) and to take a PE kit with them.
Transport – pupils at Balnain and Cannich should travel to and from the High School on the school bus (see bus collection/ pick up times enclosed). Placing request pupils please make own travel arrangements.
Lunch – canteen options are available or pupils can take a packed lunch with them. Information on school meal arrangements during transition week will be forwarded to you nearer the time.
Parents’ Evening
Thursday 27th June 2019
The school will be hosting an informal Open Evening from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. There will be a question and answer session for parents as well as distribution of school documents. For parents there will be a chance to see round the facilities we have here. P7 pupils are encouraged to attend.
Craigmonie Woods
Thursday 27th June 2019
The programme for the day will begin with normal classes until break . We will then walk up to the wood (approriate clothing and footwear must be worn). During the activity, which will be supervised by staff and senior prefects, pupils will participate in den building . We will then have a BBQ. After the BBQ we will be tak-ing part in activities in the woods with Storm our Sports Co ordinator and Brenda our Youth Development Officer. All activities have been arranged to give our P7 pupils the opportunity to learn informally with their new High School classmates and staff.
All pupils should be equipped with suitable clothing for the weather conditions, waterproofs, clothes they don’t mind getting dirty, strong shoes and sun cream. Pupils should also bring water . We will return to Glen Urquhart High School for the end of the school day at 3.40pm.
A separate permission slip will be issued closer to the date above for completion and return.
