Extra-Curricular Active Schools Programme - in partnership with the Active Schools network, we offer a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular opportunities here at Glen Urquhart High School. The majority of these opportunities are offered at lunch time or after school, and we encourage all pupils to become involved in at least one activity per term. Pupils should check in school regarding which member of staff to ask about any of the activities currently on offer. Many of these opportunities are provided for by our teaching and school support staff, for which we are continuously appreciative.
Parents/Community Members – a number of our activities are delivered in partnership with parents and volunteers from the local community. If anyone would like to become involved in the programme in any capacity (training & mentoring support is available), if you would like support to introduce a new activity, or if you are part of a local club or community group looking to develop a school to club link with Glen Urquhart High School, please feel free to get in contact. We also kindly ask that you continue to play your part – as parents, family & friends – by encouraging all pupils to either try something new or continue to maintain their involvement. Thank you!
Pupils/Wider Achievement Awards – the extra-curricular programme also offers pupils the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, through assisting and supporting with various aspects of the programme. Many pupils use such experiences when working towards their Duke of Edinburgh, Saltire Award and other nationally recognised achievement awards. A great number are also registered with High Life Highland’s local Leadership Programme (further information & details on how to register can be found by following this link – please click here) - a programme which also offers free coach education and training opportunities.
Please contact the PE department/Active School Coordinator for further information.
